Qamil is a R&B/Soul Artist and the visionary CEO of Soul Dope Entertainment, a leading multi media production company based in Columbus, Ohio. She is the founder of The Ohio R&B Music Festival and Soul Dope Awards. She is the producer/host of The Soul Dope Show broadcasting live on 98.5FM every Wednesday at 1pm, which promotes the local music scene and Indie artists. She is also the producer of the live music series Soul Dope Sessions.

In 2026, Qamil launched The Black Artist Kickback and the NOIaRtists Collective. Both are wellness initiatives dedicated to promoting the overall wellness of Black artists via communal gatherings and resource support.

Widely recognized as a true renaissance woman, she brings a dynamic blend of talent and leadership as a powerhouse vocalist, gifted songwriter, published author, creative director, producer, and charismatic host. Her work continues to elevate and amplify Indie art culture across the Midwest and beyond.

Qamil’s musical roots run deep. She is the niece of Norma Jean Wright, the former lead vocalist of the 70s disco and R&B band, Chic. R&B & Soul music are dear to Qamil’s heart. She masterfully takes her audience on a ride through a range of topics from love to heartache to sensuality in all of her songwriting and stage performances. Qamil has shared stages with international recording artists including Natalie Stewart of Floetry, Sy Smith, Dwele, Eric Roberson, K Michelle and Adina Howard as well as comedians Marlon Wayans and Joe Clair. In 2025, she was featured on the track “Groove” alongside Hip Hop Artists, Wise & Ghostface Killah.

Qamil was nominated for Best Female Vocalist at the 2014 and 2015 Ohio Hip Hop Awards. In 2017, Qamil starred in a stage production about the life of jazz legend Billie Holiday. In 2019, Qamil won the WTMH Music Award for Best Female Vocalist.

In 2020, Qamil helped support artists during the pandemic by co-producing a telethon-style live stream. A lineup of artists shared their gifts live while viewers donated to show their support. She also created Black Artist Solidarity Day, a day-long celebration to support Black Indie artists, which was featured on the local news station 10TV.

Qamil has curated countless Indie artist showcases and a long running open mic, Soul Dope Sunday, and recurring live music series Soul Dope LIVE!. She has created several community events, including two anti-gun violence marches, benefit concerts, and a brunch series that brought people together to teach and learn how to play Spades and jump double dutch. The Double Dutch & Brunch events were covered by local TV and print media.

In 2023, she opened the doors of the Soul Dope Production Studio, a multi purpose creative space for artists to #getArtdone.

She is a member of the Columbus Art Festival Music Coordinating Committee & served as an artist mentor with Music Columbus in 2025.

Qamil was the 2026 recipient of the Rhythm of a Woman “Trailblazer” award. In October 2026, she will produce the third annual Ohio R&B Music Festival, an unprecedented celebration of Ohio’s past and present R&B scene.
