Qamil is a R&B/Soul artist and the visionary CEO of

Soul Dope Entertainment, a leading production company based in Columbus, Ohio. She is the founder of The Ohio R&B Music Festival and Soul Dope Awards. She is the producer/host of The Soul Dope Show podcast and the curator host of the live performance series Soul Dope LIVE!

Widely recognized as a true renaissance woman, she brings a dynamic blend of talent and leadership as a powerhouse vocalist, gifted songwriter, published author, creative director, producer, and charismatic host.

She has served as a member of the music coordinating committee at the Columbus Art Festival & as an artist mentor with Music Columbus. In 2026, she launched, The Black Artist Kickback, a wellness initiative dedicated to promoting the overall wellness of Black artists via communal gatherings and resource support. Her work continues to elevate and amplify Indie R&B culture across the Midwest and beyond.

Qamil’s musical roots run deep. She is the niece of Norma Jean Wright, the former lead vocalist of the 70s disco and R&B band, Chic. R&B & Soul music are dear to Qamil’s heart. She masterfully takes her audience on a ride through a range of topics from love to heartache to sensuality in all of her songwriting and stage performances. Qamil has shared stages with national recording artists including Sy Smith, Dwele, Eric Roberson, K Michelle and Adina Howard as well as comedians Marlon Wayans and Joe Clair. 

Qamil was nominated for Best Female Vocalist at the 2014 and 2015 Ohio Hip Hop Awards. In 2017, Qamil starred in a stage production about the life of jazz legend Billie Holiday. In 2019, Qamil won the WTMH Music Award for Best Female Vocalist.

In 2020, Qamil helped support artists during the pandemic by co-producing a telethon style live stream. A lineup of artists shared their gifts live while viewers donated to show their support. She also created Black Artist Solidarity Day, a day long celebration to support Black Indie artists, which was featured on the local news station 10tv.

Qamil has curated countless Indie artist showcases and a long running open mic, Soul Dope Sunday. She has created several community events including two anti gun violence marches, benefit concerts, a brunch serious that brought Black women and girls together to teach and learn how to jump double dutch, Double Dutch & Brunch. All of these initiatives were covered by local tv and print media platforms.

In 2023, she opened the doors of the Soul Dope Production Studio, a multi purpose creative space for artists to #getArtdone.

Qamil is currently producing and hosting the podcast, The Soul Dope Show. The show, now in it’s fourth season, welcomes artists for candid convos about their career journeys, the ins and outs of the Indie entertainment world and more. In October, of 2025, she produced the second annual Ohio R&B Music Festival which included a performance showcase featuring artists from around the state and The Soul Dope Awards Show which honors the exceptional talents in Ohio’s vibrant Indie R&B music scene.

Committed to refocusing on her first loves, writing and singing, Qamil released two parts of her album, “Comfort Food” in 2025.  The final installment is set for a Winter 2026 release.
